Outdoor living is one of the most popular home improvement projects for 10 years and counting. Strategic planning can get you a great space for any kind of backyard activity.

Creating A Space For You

Look out in your backyard – what do you see? Is it a sanctuary where you can relax in the warm months, maybe gather the family around a fire, or have a small BBQ? Finishing the backyard can increase the value of your home and give you a place to create memories for years to come.

Deck Materials

Deck materials have made great advances in the last few years – a composite deck is definitely not your parents deck! While the cost is more initially, it will even out over the lifetime of the deck in reduced maintenance costs. A composite deck just needs a good washing every other month or so.  BE careful though – all composite material is not created equal. Top of the line products really are made better in this case.

Pergolas

Once you have a nice deck or patio, you may want to partially cover it so you can enjoy it in all types of weather. Pergolas are all the rage, but it does leave you open to the elements. Retractable awnings or sails can solve this but aren’t necessarily the most beautiful. How about an operable pergola? These are made out high grade aluminum and powder coated on the finish – they are rust proof and resistant to dents. They come in a variety of colors and allow you to choose the amount of sun you let in, or enjoy your space in the rain.

Always Hire A Contractor

Outdoor living has a wide variety of projects to help you make the most of your backyard. No matter which project you take on first, make sure your contractor has experience completing the project you hire them for. If there is a showroom where you can view the products you are considering on display, go there! It’s ok to let your contractor help you with layout, suggestions on design, etc – remember they do hundreds of these projects every season!

At Hire it Done, we work with solution minded contractors who take pride in their work and stand behind the finished product. We personally check their work and verify their license and insurance are current. They abide by our Code of Ethics and they never use high pressure sales tactics. For Hassle Free Home Improvement, make sure you use a Hire it Done contractor. Get started HERE.
